Since I know several of you have searched the site today looking for Aalto Lounge’s Monday Movie night* tonight and the Mayor was busy stroking his mustache and couldn’t send me the info, I took this from IMDB:

A young computer whizz kid accidentally connects into a top secret super-computer which has complete control over the U.S. nuclear arsenal. It challenges him to a game between America and Russia, and he innocently starts the countdown to World War 3. Can he convince the computer he wanted to play a game and not the real thing ? *thanks Google and those of you coming here to look for this info on a weekly basis*
You might have seen my arch-nemesis, Sarah, slinging cups of mud at the Belmont Stumptown the last 3 or so years. She’s a worthy adversary, and one I must deal with often because of her delicious coffee creations + her roommate and non-sexual life-partner is my sometimes-friend, the M.O.B. (3 dash points!)
Tonight, both of these two are tearing up inner SE Belmont (the M.O.B. does not like to leave his jurisdiction) with Pagecrusher’s Monday Night Movie Night at Aalto Lounge and Sarah’s Birthday Bash at Jace Gace.
I am not sure of the movie…I’m either not allowed to tell or it is still being sought after…I heard it’s something…super…no bad…no super, we’ll see.
As far as Sarah’s party is concerned, do you see that red in her eye up there? That’s called evil. You better have a lot of beers (waffles?) at the Jace to coat your soul.

BC just informed me of tonight’s movie at the Aalto lounge (after waiting more than 24 hours from the M.O.B.–I guess there was a lot of mayoral work today).
Tampopo: The movie about ramen.
Description provided by BC:
I would more correctly call it a “japanese spoof of the American spagetti western, crossed with a sub-plot about the eroticism of food”. There is even a John Wayne thrusty style punching match where two cowboy types end up friends after fighting eachother till exhaustion.

In this humorous paean to the joys of food, the main story is about trucker Goro who rides into town like a modern Shane to help Tampopo set up the perfect fast-food noodle restaurant. Woven into this main story are a number of smaller stories about the importance of food, ranging from a gangster who mixes hot sex with food to an old lady terrorizing a shopkeeper by compulsive squeezing of his wares. Shelby is the “anti-employee“. I had some beers with her at the Aalto Lounge here in Portland around two months ago. She currently resides in the Sooner State, but was up here visiting her brother.

She works in a data-entry, Office Space environment; except as she puts it–with a bunch of hillbillies.
Due to this, Shelby has three main goals:
And lucky for us, she blogs about it.She has been trying to slack off, only to realize that even then she can outperform her co-workers at a 4:1 ratio . She has tried being tardy, only to get a raise. She even didn’t tell this company that she would miss an extra two days while visiting the PDX.
However, it looks like she might have reached the promise land, a “write-up” for severe tardiness. This could bring her one step closer to those checks and to the PDX!
Check out the Anti-Employee and see if you share her desire to escape your job.

Yes, that is the tagline from “THE THING” (1982)….and I am not going to make the obvious joke.
So, come out to see Mr. Simon Goetz play “The Thing” at Aalto Lounge tomorrow.

From IMDB:
An American scientific expedition to the frozen wastes of the Antarctic is interrupted by a group of seemingly mad Norwegians pursuing and shooting a dog. The helicopter pursuing the dog crashes leaving no explanation for the chase. During the night, the dog mutates and attacks other dogs in the cage and members of the team that investigate. The team soon realises that an alien life-form with the ability to take over other bodies is on the loose and they don’t know who may already have been taken over. Written by Goth
