December 11: Portland Candlelight Vigil On Hawthorne Bridge (6-7PM) | 350.org

PORTLAND VIGIL TO BE PART OF WORLDWIDE CLIMATE DEMONSTRATIONS

On December 11, Portland will become one of many cities involved in a global grassroots campaign urging world leaders to reach a fair, binding, ambitious treaty during the United Nations climate talks taking place in Copenhagen.  The coming "weekend of action" will see numerous candlelight vigils throughout the world as a follow-up to the recent "International Day of Climate Action" on October 24.

WHO: This is a grassroots event organized by John and Janelle Sorenson, in conjunction with 350.org.  Gubernatorial candidate Bill Bradbury will be in attendance.

WHAT: A peaceful candlelight vigil, for people to express their solidarity and concern about climate change, and to urge world leaders to reach an international agreement at the Copenhagen climate talks. Further details are at www.350.org/node/12970

WHEN: Ã‚ Friday, December 11, 2009, from 6 – 7pm

WHERE: Hawthorne Bridge, Portland (Hopefully, we will have such a large turnout that we will extend along Hawthorne on the east side of the bridge, and along Naito Parkway and the Waterfront Park on the west side of the bridge.)
