Hoping to help people work off their Thanksgiving weight gain, Massive is bringing in not 1, but 2 huge name dj's to dominate the dance floor.
What has become a staple in the PDX party scene will be taken to a new level with performances by;
J.Boogie: Having performed this year at Bumbershoot, Bonnaroo, SXSW, WMC, CMJ, Harmony Fest, Earthdance, High Sierra, Power to the Peaceful and Burning Man, J.Boogie is no stranger to big gigs.
He'll be starting the night off right with his signature dubtronic dance sound and will be at Massive to support his ‘Soul Vibrations' mix cd release.
Emynd: Having worked with dj's such as Diplo, Low Budget, Scottie B, and Blaqstarr, to major rappers like Freeway, Peedi Crakk, Beanie Sigel, and Slick Rick; Emynd is a busy man. He's spent the summer touring Europe, playing the classiest of parties in Monaco and Moscow, and will be in Portland to support his new EP on Unruly Records/Crossfaded Bacon.
Da'rel Jr: With influences from the afro-punk sound and connections and collaborations with every major player in the NW Hip Hop scene (Ohmega Watts, Othello, Braille, Ragen Fykes, Theory Hazit), Da'rel Jr.'s next project, titled ‘Buddy Boy' is set to take the city's sound to a new place. A natural lyricist and performer, Da'rel Jr. will surely impress those that have not had a chance to witness his stage show.
Dr. Adam: Massive resident DJ Doctor Adam, whose mixtape for street wear site Karmaloop hit over 20,000 downloads (grab it here if you don't have it – http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ixmkyxx5i5f) will be holding it down as he always does for PDX's fashion show/dance party. Those that don't know his name must not live in Portland as his name is everywhere! Massive is the perfect opportunity to see what he does perfectly, which is make you want to dance.
Massive 13 will also feature a fashion show highlighting local boutiques and designers such as Moxie, Capital, Royal Fits, Seldom, Sticks & Stones and Lux Jewelry & Designs. Hosted by local larger than life personality and Massive MVP Mr. Ronin Roc, the fashion show is an opportunity to see up and comers and established designers in the Portland fashion world.
Massive 13 will also serve as a non-profit fundraiser for Habitat For Humanity Women's Build Project. For those unfamiliar with H4H, no other housing organization in the Portland/Metro East area offers a no-interest mortgage, which gives the organization the ability to reach out to families one step away from homelessness. Habitat sells the homes at cost, making no profit. Houses are sold below market value because of volunteer labor and donations. Families pay a 1% down payment on a 0% interest mortgage. Instead of being in a vulnerable and fragile economic position, Habitat families find themselves in a position of strength.
