LOCAL GOODS First Friday open house on Friday November 6th to feature Polaroids by Amaren Colosi and paintings and prints by Sarah Cruse.
Portland, Oregon, October 28th, 2009 – Local Goods, a general store, will host artists Amaren Colosi and Sarah Cruse on November 6th from 5:30 — 8:30 p.m. Enjoy some hors d'oeuvres, gaze at some art, and browse the newly opened Local Goods.
Local Goods opened for business on September 11th. Portland native Polly Rask sells practical, affordable, locally-made products at her new East Burnside store. Rask's focus is on sustainability by selling reused, recycled, and biodegradable products. Local Goods is regularly adding new products and encourages patrons to stop by and see what's new.
Photographer Amaren Colosi captures real personalities in candid moments or unexpected settings. She's inspired by all the ways people enjoy their lives in the Northwest; whether it's fine dining in a sleek, modern restaurant, skateboarding around old warehouses, or laughing on a wild hillside surrounded by elk, she focuses on light, depth perception, and contrast in her compositions. Colosi earned her B.F.A. in photography from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her work has appeared in PDX Magazine, the Oregonian, LivePDX.com, and the Portland Art Museum member magazine, to name a few. www.amarencolosi.com
Sarah Cruse paints, most often, metaphors, memories, and small pieces of stories. She likes to invoke a sense of irony, sentiment, or atmosphere. Of late, her inspirations are mostly animals, plants, and the human form, but she is certainly not limited by these. Cruse relocated to Portland from Indianapolis in 1999. A minister's daughter, raised in a family of creatives, Cruse has her B.S. from Portland Sate in Painting. www.sarahcruse.com
