HELL HOUSE:
In light of the popular theater troupe Sissyboy's reunion, then subsequent disbanding, Adam North recently took it upon himself to say what he's been wanting to say for two years now: "I'm not ready to give up the stage!"Â And by stage, he's referring to his own brand of bar theater—horribly offensive feature length plays complete with musical numbers, skits, surprises, short films, and narrative scenes to create a complete and compelling (albeit sinful) story.
So, in search of more creative freedom, and a fresh start, he found a new group of 12 eccentric Portlanders, and set forward with "Church," a group performing under the themes of sitcom-meets-the-stage, after-school special gone wrong, and Kids in the Hall style drag. They're debuting Friday October 30th at Someday Lounge, 8pm, $7 21+, with their first original production "Hell House," then plan to perform a new feature-length show every other month as they take their skewed morality lessons through the gamut of typically conservative holidays.
As they work it out through skit, song, multimedia, and a blur of smeared lipstick and soft-core pornography, we're all hoping they find an audience who loves these characters and their twisted show as much as they do.
WE GOT THE MEAT are Portland's original and only Go-Go's tribute band. Led by the adorable "Paulinda", these boys in drag deliver loveable, danceable renditions of The Go-Go's greatest hits.
