October 9: The Prids, Lookbook, Soft Tags & We Miss The Earth @ Mississippi Studios

TOP PDX BANDS PREMIER THEIR POST-NAPSTER RECORD LABEL COLLECTIVE AT MISSISSIPPI STUDIOS OCT. 9.  FIRST RELEASE — ‘THE LOOK AND FEEL' BY LOOKBOOK.

This-a-Way Recording Collective is pleased to announce its' existence to the world. The collective — a media savvy, D.I.Y organization — boasts a roster of top Portland acts that includes The Prids, Lookbook, Soft Tags & We Miss The Earth.

The October 9th showcase at Mississippi Studios features The Prids, Lookbook and Soft Tags. As well as a launch party for the label collective, this show is also the album release event for Lookbook's debut record ‘THE LOOK AND FEEL.'

This-a-Way Records was founded by Mistina Keith of the Prids and is a direct reaction to the changing infrastructure of the music industry. As traditional record labels continue to fail through an inability to adapt to digital music, TAW has found the way forward through embracing both vinyl and file-sharing, stripping away obsolete industry machinations & fully utilizing the D.I.Y. talents of its' roster.

The roster features some of the best bands to hail from music hotbed of Portland, Oregon. noise pop shoegazers The Prids have toured and released records for more than a decade and are in the midst of recording a follow-up to the bands Pitchfork approved LP ‘Until the World is Beautiful.' Cult fuzz-folk/ psych act Soft Tags has become an underground phenomenon and is recording a November slated TAW double-record debut. We Miss the Earth's dark-wave pop has been collected on two records set for releases this year. Lookbook has continually turned frigid rock bars into dance clubs with it's fusion of dance music, krautrock and rock ‘n' roll (think MGMT, Happy Mondays, Kraftwerk and T.Rex) — a sound captured perfectly on debut record ‘The Look and Feel.'

‘The old idea of a "label" is dead,' said label founder Mistina Keith. ‘And good riddance. A DIY cooperative in the age of digital culture, instant media and high fidelity recording technology can get more done in a day than a limousine-and-million-dollar-videos label could in a month.  TAW is about the artists and we have some of the best acts in the Northwest helping each other.'
