21st Annual Portland Tuba Christmas Concert

On Saturday, December 10th from 1:30PM-3:00PM, downtown will pulse with the melodic sounds of big brass as over 200 tubas play in unison atPioneer Courthouse Square for the 21st Annual Tuba Christmas Concert presented by SmartPark. This annual seasonal performance is FREE for the public to enjoy during one of the busiestshopping days in downtown.Conducted by Chuck Bolton, retired Oregon Music Educator, Tuba Christmas is a compilation oftuba, euphonium and baritone horn musicians playing the joyous sounds of the season.
This year Mr. Bolton has arranged a special tribute to Dr. John Richards who for the past 20 years has conducted Tuba Christmas at the Square. Dr. Richards, who passed away in July, was well known throughout the community as an outstanding scholar, teacher and musician in addition to principal tuba with the Oregon Symphony Orchestra for 50 years.
