Sally Tomato's autobiographical rock opera "Toy Room" is here. This independent film boasts an all volunteer cast of several dozen artists and musicians throughout the Portland metropolitan area and premiered as a theatrical presentation at the Wonder Ball Room.
The film version of this theatre work screened in four continents and picked up a few awards throughout the 2009 festival season.
The film is premiering at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 12th at Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton Street, Portland). All Ages, 8 dollars at the door. The writers, cast and crew will be present.
The DVD is being released Tuesday, July 20th and is carried by Burnside Distribution Company. It should be available at your favorite music store, online at FilmBaby.com and can be downloaded from ITunes.
"Toy Room" has had a major impact on its audience while capturing a multimedia theatrical experience on video. It mixes live action with narrative film and blends the two in a unique way. The end result is a universal story that makes a great escape from our everyday lives. "Toy Room" unfolds elegantly as we turn the clock back and watch Sally grow up. At first playing alone, only her imagination can help her. Two guides, Innocence and Destiny, follow her through a maze of events spanning her life, culminating in a chaotic swirl of musical and theatrical mastery. Can Innocence and Destiny help Sally remember the cornerstones of youth? As the story evolves we are all reminded that Sally is not alone in her struggle and we are all on this journey.
