August 27: Release Party – "Northwest Passage: 50 Years of Independent Music From The Rose City" @ Reading Frenzy

NORTHWEST PASSAGE RELEASE PARTY | FRIDAY, AUGUST 27, 7PM
Reading Frenzy | 920 SW Oak St.

The release party for the publication will feature short talks by the book's editor, Marc Moscato, and the audio editor, Erin Yanke. Afterward, DJ HWY 7 spins a special set of forgotten Portland classics 1950s-present, mined from his archive of local vinyl — from punk to funk and blues and deep PDX soul. This e
event is free, with beer donated by Ninkasi.

The publication presents a unique slice of Oregon history — one that has often been poorly documented. Through oral history, essays and photos, the book documents the organization's successful Northwest Passage lecture series, held in the winter 2010 at the Waypost in Portland, OR. The publication was produced to make available the research to those who couldn't attend the lectures.

The publication features contributions from:
The Dill Pickle Club
Mississippi Records
Oregon Musical
Historical Society
PDX Pop Now!
Joe Kregal
Ural Thomas
Valerie Brown
Fred & Toody Cole
Vanessa Renwick & Erin Yanke
Calvin Johnson
Cool Nutz

It is available at www.dillpickleclub.com, and at select retail stores.
