Good things are happening in our community! Come experience a sampling of the amazing grass-roots efforts that are making a positive difference in neighborhoods throughout Portland. Join us on Saturday, August 6th from 11:00am - 1:00pm in St. Johns to learn about and celebrate three local groups working with youth, a neighbor-run farmers' market, and neighbor networking. This panel presentation and discussion uplifts the inspirational stories of everyday people doing extraordinary things.
This event, held at the Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) Water Laboratory (6543 N Burlington, 97203), will feature panelists will take you inside the story of their projects; speak about the spark that ignited their idea; the tools and strategies used to turn their idea into action, and future goals for their project. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and discover possibilities for replicating similar projects in your own neighborhood
Panelists will include:
- Compass Junction, a neighborhood effort to build a strong, vibrant community in Cathedral Park
- African Youth and Community Organization (AYCO) brings together youth across cultures and helps them to achieve success through soccer and mentoring programs
