Limber up your livers, folks, because Iron Bartender is back for its 3rd year!
This is going to be a fantastic event, and here's why: 1) The Giving Tree is a great non-profit to support, 2) sweet drink specials, 3) you can buy your way to the judge's table and get sloshed with the likes of party master Jedediah Aaker and Mayor Sam Adams, and 4) We are gaining a reputation for throwing some pretty raucous fundraisers, and this year we'll have fire performers on top of everything else.
It's all going on at Radio Room at 1101 NE Alberta on December 4, 2010. Doors open at 7pm and the competition starts at 9:30pm. Three Portland bartenders will go head to head (to head) during three 5-minute rounds, mixing original cocktails using a different secret ingredient every round. The drinks are judged by local Portland notables, and the winner (based on presentation, taste, and originality) is crowned Iron Bartender.
Your donation of $10+ gets you entry to the event, plus a raffle ticket for the chance to win one of the 9 unique cocktails mixed during the competition, PLUS for every $10 you donate your name gets entered into a drawing to decide who the 5th judge will be. This event was jam-packed last year and we recommend that you purchase admission in advance by donating to The Giving Tree through the Give! Guide at www.wweek.com/giveguide by December 3. For those last-minute folks, you can also pay to enter at the door the night of the event.
In addition to the drawing to decide the 5th judge and the raffle for free drinks, the crowd will be able to buy $5.00 voting cards to vote on their favorite bartender. The winner of the vote will get the People's Choice Award, and for each vote cast, the voter will also be entered into a drawing to win a housecleaning from Personal Touch Cleaners, a free haircut from Tami at Gypsy Rose salon, and a $10 Powell's Books gift certificate. Stick around after the competition to sample the winning drink and bolster yourself with Radio Room's one-night-only drink specials so you're ready to head into the fray to collect your silent auction bounty.
