OREGON BALLET THEATRE ARTISTS COLLABORATE FOR ENCORE PERFORMANCE
WITH PORTLAND BAND HORSE FEATHERS
Artists from Oregon Ballet Theatre will share a stage with Portland indie folk band Horse Feathers on January 22, 2010 as the second installation of the collaborative project called Uprising.  Conceived by OBT soloist Candace Bouchard, Uprising is an emerging created movement among the dancers of OBT designed to bring the beauty of ballet to new audiences in non-traditional venues. The encore performance at Wonder Ballroom will team Justin Ringle and his band Horse Feathers with six Oregon Ballet Theatre dancers for a performance featuring choreography by Bouchard, expanding from the version performed in November by two songs and bringing the band on to the stage with the dancers.
Uprising was created by OBT's dancers as both a means to provide them with performance opportunities during periods when they are not on contract with the company and a way to reach out to an audience that may not normally attend the ballet. It is currently produced solely with volunteer labor and donated goods.
Performance is at 9pm, January 22nd at Wonder Ballroom, 128 NE Russell St, Portland, OR 97212. The doors will open at 8pm.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 day of show

Justin Ringle moved to Portland, Oregon, in 2004 and began to regularly play open mics under the moniker Horse Feathers. In 2005, Peter Broderick heard two songs that Justin had recorded in a friend's basement and tracked him down via the internet. Shortly after that, the two began playing music together. For the most part, Justin writes the songs initially and then Peter helps to arrange them with varying instrumentation. Horse Feathers is now on the verge of releasing their third album, with regional and international tours scheduled through the remainder of 2009.
