A delightfully diverse line-up of some awesome new forces in Portland's rock scene.
On repeated listens to Nucular Aminals, one might hear the morose echoes of Magnetic Fields, the most tasteful moments of the best Nirvana tracks, the jazzy entanglement of The Doors, Daniel Johnstons' cerebral lyricism, and most certainly Os Mutantes' insistent sonic playfulness. Nucular Aminals tour and perform quite often, playing with respectable groups like Harlem, Grass Widow, The Intelligence, Christmas and Nodzzz.
Willamette Week writes of Psychic Feline: “Born from the ashes of former local garage trio the Caldonias, Psychic Feline is making some cool noise these days. With insistent, almost droning krautrock rhythms and nocturnal minor-key melodies, these kitties are worth catching.”
Also performing are two very promising young projects – Edibles, the experimental dub project from Dewey Mahood of Eternal Tapestry, and Forest Park, an epic, shoegazey rock outfit featuring Wampire drummer Cyrus Lampton.
