THE BRYN FORBES STUDIO & GALLERY
ANNOUNCES ITS JULY 16, 2010 GALLERY GRAND OPENING:
PORTLAND PREMIERE

NEW FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRYN FORBES

July 16th, 2010
Gallery Grand Opening Reception Friday, July 16th, 2010 6:00-9:00pm at the Bryn Forbes Gallery, 1106 NW Marshall St. (in the Pearl)

Bryn is a new arrival in Portland's Pearl District artscape. His studio / gallery of Fine Art Photography will open Friday, July 16 at 1106 NW Marshall St near the Tanner Springs Park in Portland's Pearl District. Bryn is just back from a 50 day photographic exploration of the southern hemisphere (outdoing Jules Verne's Phineas Fogg 80 day feat). This and previous trips all over the world will be featured in future shows at the gallery. In the coming months gallery will feature seascapes, cityscapes, animals, birds, landscapes of incredible beauty from places such as Namibia and Botswana, Australia, and New Zealand as well as from the digital realm of mathematically created images of color, light and flow.

To  launch his gallery, however, Bryn has chosen to present a broad spectrum of the fine art photography which best demonstrates his “painting with a camera” to evoke images of the real, yet softened, reality found in nature. His landscapes and seascapes capture the motion of the scene in a way that redefines still photography. Counterpoint to these softened images are bold, crisp and colorful abstract images which are as modern, yet timeless, as contemporary art. His images, representing the essence of that which captures his imagination, are radiant and eminently pleasurable to view for the first time or to salute the beauty of life with for years….

Bryn generally works in larger formats, presenting his vision of land and seascapes of the natural world, streetscapes, fireworks, and abstract representations of the beauty around us. Lately he also been doing very large format works made from physical objects such as dice, toys or candles, in which each object is a pixel in a larger mosaic-ed image.

The 900 square foot gallery is located next door to Siler Studios one down from the corner of NW 11th and NW Marshall st. across the street from Via Delizia. The grand opening reception will be held July 16th from 6pm to 9pm at the gallery.

Congratulations, Bryn. Although we can’t make the opening, we will certainly plan a visit on our next trip to Portland.

May your new career bring you joy and success. Can’t say “break a leg” because that’s for the theater, and I certainly wouldn’t want you to break any of that fancy photography equipment, so I’ll just say “go for it.”

    Best
