First Friday Extravaganza at The Rocket TENpod

TENpod is hosting its first First Friday Extravaganza on June 4, 2010 from 6pm – Midnight! Artists Damon Eckhoff and Sara Kaltwasser will unveil the TENpod ArtBox, a 200 square foot mural that energizes our bland conference room with the likes of Blaaagbot, Skull Bunny and Norp from Defend the City, a collaboration between the two that tells the epic saga of HEART CITY through art, stories, t-shirts, posters, and a blog.

Damon and Sara will also be showing and selling their individual artwork. Damon, a professional artist and illustrator, will be exhibiting paintings of his latest array of characters and creatures.  He will be debuting his reverse glass technique in which he paints on thick acrylic plastic in reverse.  This technique creates uniquely beautiful paintings that glow with color and light. Sara will be showing paintings from her latest body of work.

And if that weren't enough, at 9:30 Dennis Nyback will start his ROBOTS ROBOTS ROBOTS! film show. Nyback revealed his program late last week, “I'll be showing rare great short Robot films including The Inventors (1934) in which Technocracy spoofers Stoopnagle and Budd built a Robot that terrorizes a girls school,  Techno-Cracked (1933) a Ub Iwerks Flip the Flog cartoon again spoofing Technocracy with a home built runaway Robot,  Rosey the Robot (1962) the pilot episode for the Jetsons, The Mechanical Monsters (1941) Superman battles flying robots,  Robot Revolution (1980) about modern (at least then) robotics, and more. Plus TenPod is a cool space for you to discover.”

Free skull bunny cookies and popcorn will be provided, Deco Distilling will be tasting their Ginger Rum along with Columbia Gorge Organics delicious juices.
