Bikers from around the state are shining their leathers and tuning their engines to get ready for the most inspirational motorcycle ride of the year: the Children's Cancer Association's second annual CCA JoyRide.

Traveling from the Portland area to the coast, the event takes place Saturday, June 4 and helps support local kids fighting cancer and other serious illness.

Registration is taking place at www.CCAJoyRide.org and anyone with a motorcycle is encouraged to join. The ride is open to individuals and teams, who can set up their own fundraising page to seek sponsorships for their rides. A $50 registration fee includes an official JoyRide T-shirt. Prizes are awarded to all riders based on fundraising achievements, including the chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree at Paradise Harley-Davidson.

¬Å“The JoyRide is a truly a unique way for the community to engage in CCA's mission of delivering joy to seriously ill children and teens, and we are thrilled to bring it back for a second year,¬Â said Mary Turina, president and chief operating officer, Children's Cancer Association. ¬Å“We promise everyone who rides with us will be inspired.¬Â

The CCA JoyRide begins at Paradise Harley-Davidson in Tigard and ends in Pacific City at CCA's Caring Cabin for a tour, savory bites from Koi Fusion and live music. A kick off party will be held the day before the ride for all participants at Paradise Harley-Davidson in Tigard. Last year, more than 100 riders took part and helped raise more than $25,000.

Proceeds from the event go to support CCA's Caring Cabin, a beautiful secluded retreat home that offers an escape for seriously ill children and their families that provides week-long or weekend getaways at no cost.
