FOR 20^TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE "BUCKMAN ART SHOW & SELL"

MARCH 12 & 13, 2010

The Buckman Art Show & Sell, an annual celebration of art, craft, and arts education, proudly celebrates its 20^th anniversary, March 12 and 13, 2010. Featuring the work of more than 120 Pacific Northwest artists and craftspersons, who will donate a percentage of their proceeds to Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School, this bustling, vibrant community event and juried art festival takes place Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School, 320 SE 16^th Avenue, Portland, Oregon.

The Buckman Art Show & Sell features paintings, ceramics, sculptures, photography, prints, collage, mosaics, fabric and paper arts, textiles, fashion accessories, jewelry, and toys created by both established veterans and newly emerging talents in the Northwest art world. A separate gallery showcases the work of talented Buckman students and young alumni.

The Buckman Art Show & Sell is a feast for the senses—it's about much more than visual and wearable art. Mouthwatering foods delight the palate, and dance and music performances by professionals as well as Buckman student groups provide entertainment for everyone. The festival would not be complete without the free, supervised hands-on children's art area, open both Friday evening and Saturday to kids age 4 and up, provides young artists the chance to create their own masterpieces while their parents shop for treasures.

This year's show celebrates Portland's artful DIY food scene by welcoming the Korean-Mexican cuisine of the KOi fusion food cart on Friday evening, and Northwest favorite Burgerville with their NOMAD mobile food cart on Saturday. Ben & Jerry's cart will be on hand with ice cream, and CoolCity KettleCorn & Co. will serve up salty-sweet popcorn from their mobile stand at the front of the school.

Entertainment will be provided by local jazz talents Ed Bennett & Tony Pacini on Friday evening; on Saturday, art buyers will enjoy the sights and sounds of the Buckman Chorus, Buckman Marimba Ensemble, and Buckman dance groups, followed by folk-pop group Wildberry Wine, the Sean-nos Irish Dancers, gypsy jazz artist Jim Bryan and jazz pianist Mark Douglass.
