MASSIVE 17: Joie de Vivre
DJ Sake1 (PST / San Francisco): Born and raised in the culture of hip-hop, DJ SAKE-1 has been looking for the perfect beat since 1989. A founding member of California's (((Local 1200))) Sound System, DJ SAKE-1 has utilized a combination of advanced science and Bay Area hustle to genetically alter the hip-hop idiom into a 360 degree circle of soul. You can find DJ SAKE-1 kickin' up dust and making 5,000-person venues feel like neighborhood house parties from San Francisco to New York City to Atlanta to London and beyond….
DJ SAKE-1 has humbly Served the People as resident DJ at legendary parties such as: Church; Fabric; Soulville; Candy House; Luscious; Oakland Reggae; FeelGood; Unify! and many, many more. He presently resides at the groundbreaking Pacific Standard Time weekly, while traveling to do his thing at vaunted spots like Little Ricky's Rib Shack (NYC), The Rub (NYC), Blacktronica (London), Chocolate Sundays, Outside the Box, Do-Over & Afro Funke (Los Angeles), Earthlink Live (Atlanta) and mucho mas.
Sake One is also a hard working studop producer, having created mashups, remixes, edits and original productions for mixtapes and studio releases. Check his sound on any of his mixtapes or at his live performances.
DaveNotti (Elementality Records): Being raised by a Jamaican mother in his native state of New York; He grew up listening to the likes of Bob Marley, Super Cat, Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton and more! Any true Hip-Hop lover can connect the link between all of those artists and the culture today, but at that rate Dave should've been the next big reggae hit, however, Hip-Hop is his true calling!
DaveNotti came to the West Coast, bringing with him his East Coast sound, in early 2007. It has been here that Dave's true creativity has been expressed. Cultivating such hits as “Shit Is Good,” “The One,” “Entrance” and “Fool What You Want?” the city of Portland has taken in DaveNotti and now has yet another star player to add to our long list of greats! With a new age of exciting and creative music flourishing upon us, Dave is ready to put in work until he becomes the next must-have producer.
Doc Adam (Ill As F*ck / PDX): Massive resident DJ Doc Adam, whose mixtape for street wear site Karmaloop hit over 20,000 downloads (grab it here if you don't have it – mediafire.com/download.php?ixmkyxx5i5f) will be holding it down as he always does for PDX's fashion show/dance party. Those that don't know his name must not live in Portland as his name is everywhere! Massive is the perfect opportunity to see what he does perfectly, which is make you want to dance.
