March 5: Cort and Fatboy Midnight Movie | Blues Brothers @ Bagdad
Related: Our Portland EVENTSÂ LIST
So, March 5th, we've unearthed a 35mm print of the 1980 classic “The Blues Brothers,” as much a celebration of soul music in America as it is a celebration of doofy white people crashing a ridiculous amount of cars. The movie shouldn't have worked, but it does, and it works even better in front of a live audience with Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker and Aretha Franklin and James Brown just killing it onscreen. Singing, Clapping and even a few spontaneous dance moves in the aisle will be appreciated.
The pre-show festivities will not include a trailer reel/nostalgia bath as we usually do, but instead, we've enlisted the help of Target for Tomorrow and the Horns of Destruction, a local punk/funk/ska band who have boned up on their soul chops to pay homage to the greats along with their typically fun form of musical mayhem.
Doors at 10p, music at 10:15-ish, Film at 11pm. Admission is 3 bucks, must be 21 and over.
