Portland based funk-soul collective Manimalhouse will be releasing their long awaited album Body Rock on November 4, 2010. To celebrate, the Alberta Rose Theatre will host a special night featuring Manimalhouse and two of the funkiest bands on this, or any other, planet: Excellent Gentlemen and Tony Ozier's Doo Doo Funk Allstars. This is going to be the best party in town, and it has definitely been a long time coming.

Body Rock is the result of almost one year in the studio with engineer David Friedlander (Prince, Pink Martini) and Tony Ozier (Doo Doo Funk Allstars) acting as producer/ringmaster. It embraces the joy of New Orleans style funk as well as old-school hip-hop, soul and R&B, while never losing that distinctive Manimalhouse feel-good vibe. Songs like Money and Backdoor harken back to a time when parents just didn't understand the Humpty Dance, while others like Driftin and Honest sound as if they were rediscovered classic soul tunes. This is the album that you want playing at your next house party.

Manimalhouse features the devastating Reyna Mallare on lead vocals, the prodigy of New Orleans piano Mac Potts on all manner of keyboards, Brody Lowe and Travis Hanson on lead vocals, Dan Lee on guitar, Jeff Tummond on bass, Mark Blanding on drums and the powerhouse horn section of Jon Ramm-Gramenz, Brian Fitzsimmons and Reid Neuman. On Body Rock, the group is joined by legendary New Orleans saxophonist Reggie Houston and the ever-handsome synth genius Steveland Swatkins of Excellent Gentlemen.

Since 2006, Manimalhouse has been bringing New Orleans influenced funk and soul music to dance floors all over the Pacific Northwest. Combining powerful group vocals, fresh horn arrangements and non-stop energy, Manimalhouse turns every theatre into a club and every club into a house party.
