Friday Portland Bike/ Pedalpalooza Events, June 24
Mudeye Puppet Show in the Garden @ Garden at Lot 13 (4009 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, Directly north of the Rexall Building at N. Mississippi and Shaver, 9:45am – 10:45am, The puppet show starts at 10 a.m.): Mudeye Puppet Company is performing Biketrike Spoketacular in the Garden at Lot 13. $5 per person.
Food Cart Lovers Ride @ Cartopia (SE 12th Ave and Hawthorne Blvd, 4:30pm, Meet at Cartopia at 4:30 for eats we leave promptly at 5:20 for our next Pod Location.): Join us for a progressive ride to some of Inner SE Portland’s best Food Cart Pods. Make sure to bring $ for all the delicious goodness, as we travel through the pods we will be creating a video in collaboration with Food Carts Portland and will be learning about the History of Portland’s wonderful Food Cart Scene. The Pods we are planning or thinking about visiting on this ride include Ala Carts, Cartopia, D Street Noshery, Good Food Here, Green Castle. With possible extensions into Downtown Portland.
Bike Noir @ WTF Bikes (1114 SE Clay St, parking lot next to WTF Bikes, 6:30pm – 8:30pm, meet @ 6:30 ride @ 7): Pedal to unexpected places among the shadows of the Rose City as a mystery unfolds in the gritty industrial underbelly of Portland, Oregon. Follow the action on bicycle to uncover secrets in back alleyways and beneath bridges. Bike Noir marks the Working Theatre Collective’s third venture into Portland-inspired bicycle-powered theatre. Audiences will ride with the performers to a series of locations to experience this film noir inspired play. This ride is free, but donations are appreciated. film noir getups encouraged! (trenchcoats, dark suits, lipstick, sultry dresses etc.)
Best Summer Ever @ Apex Bar (1216 SE Division St. at 12th, 6:30pm – 9:00pm): Ride to kick off THE BEST SUMMER EVER! 6:30 – gather at Apex (12th & SE Division) | 7:00 – Leave Apex, Water Wars – water balloons, bring a water gun if you’ve got it – Washington school, Top of Lloyd Center parking garage, bring a beverage in a bottle to chug at the top. Bomb back down. Surprise at Irving Park. Ice cream at Ruby Jewel. | 8:30 – Skidmore Bluffs – Sparklers provided, bring snacks and beverages for a sunset picnic. Any other ingredients for best summer ever, strongly encouraged.
Classic Schwinn Chicken Coop Tour @ Cyclopedia (5711 E Burnside St, 7:00pm): Come one and all who love classic Schwinn bicycles and/or chicken coops. We will be noodling around inner NE/SE and looking at or talking to the people who own some of Portlands greatest coops. Will be lead by someone in a chicken suit (Naturally) and will be a easy pace. Bust out the old Travelers, Tourists, Suburbans, or whatever your favorite classic schwinn is. We will have tunes for the ride and we will all gather at Cyclopedia for food and drinks after the ride, please bring your own beverages.
Superhero! Ride @ Col. Summers Park (SE 20th and Belmont, 8:00pm): Once again darkness descends upon our fair city… Once again, mild-mannered citizens of Portland call upon secret heroes to right wrongs, rescue kittens, and speak masked, caped, supertruth to power. To the phonebooth! Rend asunder the threads of mediocrity! Revel in the multihued spandex of destiny! Supervillains provided, BYOSuperbooze.
Lit and Loud 2011 @ Irving Park (NE 7th Ave and Fargo St, Portland (meet up top by the bathrooms and the dog park, we shouldn’t be hard to miss, 10:00pm – 6:00am, we’ll ride right around 11pm.): Join the Northfreak Bike Collective for our 3rd annual pedalpalooza blowout extravaganza! We’ll be meeting at the usual spot, with an unusually large (thats where you come in) number of awesome folks decked out in glowsticks, lights, e.l. wire, reflective tape, noisy stuff, and likely every bike sound system in portland. From there we’ll roll to a fun outdoor spot for games, live music, and probably the sweetest dance party all year!

Saturday Portland Bike/ Pedalpalooza Events, June 25
Brian Willson Book Tour Kickoff @ PSU Park Blocks (behind Lincoln Hall, SW Park and SW Mill/Market, 8:00am): S. Brian Willson is a prominent Viet Nam veteran turned peace activist and Portland resident. Brian will kickoff a book tour on his three-wheeled, hand-powered recumbent from Portland to San Francisco in support of his new memoir, “Blood on the Tracks: The Life and Times of S. Brian Willson.” This sendoff is a celebration of life and revolutions — one revolution of the wheel at a time — toward a livelihood that is not dependant on fossils fuels. Handcycle Pace, 10-12 mph; some hills; destination Newberg, 3-4 hours, 30 miles away; cyclists welcome to go part of or all the way.
Bells, Bubbles, & Bubblers @ 5th and SW Washington (9:00am – 10:00am): tour benson bubbler drinking fountains, blow bubbles, and ring your bells! stop to smile at public art!!! hand-crafted bubble wands made by local artisans. home-made bubble solution made by local enthusiasts. meet at the fountain at sw salmon and sw naito parkway. we will loop around the waterfront parks (crossing the hawthorne & steele bridges) and will stop at a few bubblers downtown. feel free to bring your own bubbles, wands, and bells. bring a container if you want some of our bubble solution.
Mustache Ride! @ Eastbank Esplenade (5 SE Madison St, Portland, 10:00am): Hi there. Would you like to go for a mustache ride? Really? Great! Let’s meet at the Vera Katz statue on the Esplanade. If you don’t have a mustache of your own, mustaches will be provided for you. After we’ve mustache-ed ourselves, we ride around like mustache-ing maniacs, leaving a trail of creatively applied mustaches in our wake. You (yes, you!) get extra points if you mustache innocent bystanders we meet along our way! The climax of our mustache ride will be at MCBF. Spread what’s left of your mustache love to the fairgoers! Buddhas by Bikes @ Dharma Rain Zen Center (2514 SE Madison St, big yellow building- looks like a church, 1:00pm): Please try and be on time. Ride duration based on # and interest of riders. For cyclists of most levels, and people with any level of interest in Buddhism-from the idly curious to Zen Monk! We’ll meet, have a quick discussion of the history and sects of Buddhism, then visit a number of active Buddhist groups, centers, and temples in SE Portland. The first 5 stops are within 6 blocks, followed longer rides and dinner at a Buddhist restaurant. Riders may leave according to their ability/time constraints/ interest.
Art in Unexpected Places (NE corner of Berrydale Park , SE 92nd St & Taylor Street, 4:00pm – 5:30pm): Join us as we travel along the 205 path, stopping to appreciate site specific dance and public art, while traversing the landscape of multiple modes of transport.

Follow the action on bicycle to uncover secrets in back alleyways and beneath bridges. Bike Noir marks the Working Theatre Collective’s third venture into Portland-inspired bicycle-powered theatre. Audiences will ride with the performers to a series of locations to experience this film noir inspired play. This ride is free, but donations are appreciated. Film noir getups encouraged! (trenchcoats, dark suits, lipstick, sultry dresses etc.)
Midnight Ridazz Ride @ Pioneer Courthouse Square (SW 6th Ave and Morrison St, 9 p.m. – 7 a.m.): Featuring the DJ Formerly Known As Alaska. This ride is a midnight ridazz style ride. We will have multiple stops. Please prepare yourself! Bring fun, lights, equipment to fix a flat, something to ride, locks, leave no trace attitude, and a costume. All Bikes are welcome. When you hear Midnight Ridazz, respond with “Ride On!”.

Sunday Portland Bike/ Pedalpalooza Events, June 26
Woodstock Farmers Market Opening Day Ride @ Woodstock Farmer’s Market (4600 SE Woodstock Blvd, Portland (Meeting at Sweetness Bakery 3524 SE 52nd, 9:00am, Meet at 9am and at 915am we ride): Folks in & around the neighborhood are super stoked about the new Farmer’s Market in Woodstock! Sundays from June 26th through September 25th, the Woodstock Farmers Market will offer produce, meats, fish, cheeses, food carts, flowers & artisan goods from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All local vendors & music.This Sunday June 26th is the official opening day with a ribbon cutting from Sam Adams scheduled at 10am. We will meet at 9am via Sweetness Bakery on SE 52nd and Powell. Folks can get pastries before the ride on their own & then we can bike to 46th and Woodstock for the official opening 915am
North Portland Sunday Parkways @ North Portland (11:00am – 4:00pm): A 2-way route of city streets open to walk, bike, roll, run, jump and skip – without having to watch out for cars! The 8-mile North Portland Sunday Parkways route will have two loops, connecting Peninsula, Arbor Lodge, Kenton, and McCoy Parks, plus the Willamette Bluff. Food, music and activities are located in the parks and along the route.
Hawthorne Open @ 4811 SE Hawthorne Blvd, 11:00am: Get on your bike and take a tour of every home for sale in the Hawthorne District. Yes, view up to 50 homes for sale all on 1 day…. Veg Pride Ride @ King Farmers Market (NE 7th Ave and Wygant St, 1:00pm, Meet at 1, leave the market around 1:30pm): From kale lovers to bona-fide vegans, this ride is for everyone who loves their veggies and is proud of it! Eating a plant-based diet is good for the Earth, good for the animals, and good for your body! This easy, leisurely paced ride will make stops for farmers markets and vegan baked goods. The ride ends at the SIP cart outside of Peoples Co-op for fresh juice and vegan milkshakes! Bring cash for food stops!
Women’s Bike Ride – Girly Bikes @ Peninsula Park (700 N Rosa Parks Way, Girly Bikes Booth at Peninsula Park- on N Kerby near Rosa Parks, 1:00pm – 2:30pm, 8 miles): Girly Bikes will be riding the Sunday Parkways route. Join us at the Girly Bikes Booth on N Kerby!
Grannies and Golden Girls Ride @ Mallory Meadows City Park (NE Killingsworth St and Mallory Ave, 3:30pm – 8:30pm, we ride at 4-4:15pm, after NoPo Sunday Parkways; the 1st stop is nearby.): Just a lovely little Sunday ride, love. It would make Grandma very happy if you came along. Meet us at Mallory Meadows Park, dressed in Grandma’s Sunday Best, or Golden Girl chic. We’ll ride slow, breaking for shuffleboard, church, Grandma errands, and generous imbibing. Ends downtown (in time for Zoobomb) with a special Grannie treat.
