Nemo presents the work of Jesse Reno in Rooted in Stars and Magic, curated by NEMO opening Friday, September 4, 2009 6-10pm. The show will run through Monday, September 28, 2009 at Nemo – 1875 SE Belmont Street in Portland, OR.
Opening reception will include special musical guests.
Rooted in Stars and Magic will feature new works by Jesse Reno, including hand painted guitars. As one of Portlands resident artists, Reno's work can be found about town in murals on Hawthorne, though his work has also been recognized internationally by the likes of Juxtapoz and Big Giant.
About Jesse Reno
Self-taught, artist Jesse Reno lives and works in Portland, Oregon pumping out prolific amounts of frenetic works seeping in mythology, archetypes and symbols. He typically works on five to ten canvases at once, allowing a thematic emergence to occur naturally.
About Rooted in Stars and Magic
Rooted in the Stars and Magic tells a story unto itself. The work explores lessons learned by aligning with purpose, truth, myth, and extinction. The transference of symbology opens a dialogue where images really are worth a thousand words. In these works Reno emphasizes the importance of doing, of purpose and of intention over outcome.
