Fundraiser Auction & First Thursday Event in Open Space
We are pleased to share with you that the College and Portland City Art have teamed up to present the Painted Door Auction tomorrow, Thursday, September 3, 2009, beginning at 6 pm in the Second Floor Open Space.
Doors created by 50+ artists during the month of August 2009, will be auctioned during this silent and live auction event. The event will happen at The Art Institute of Portland, 1122 NW Davis Street, with the silent auction starting at 6 pm and live auction at 8 pm. The event is free and open to the public.
The painting of the doors for this auction kicked off during a live paint event with 30 artists on the First Thursday in August, held on Davis Street in front of the College.
Thirty percent of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the College's Creative Arts Scholarships Fund, with the artists and Portland City Art benefitting from the remaining 50 percent and 20 percent, respectively.
The show was curated by Portland City Art and includes the work from some Art Institute students.
This project grew out of the Portland Mural Show, which concluded in 2008 with a live door painting event. Subsequently the doors were auctioned off at the Olympic Mills Commerce Center, and 10% of the proceeds went to P:ear
A special process exhibit will be on display in the College gallery during the auction.
