Jackpot Records Presents A Very Special Evening with The Remains and the New Dawn

Jackpot Records Presents one of the great mid-Sixties American teen rock groups The Remains in concert at Berbati's Pan on September 11, 2009 at 9 p.m., doors open at 8 p.m.

The four original band members of The Remains come together to perform a rare one-night engagement, marking the band's first ever Portland appearance and its first performance in the Northwest since August 25, 1966 in Seattle, the night they opened for the Beatles.

Oregon's own original psychedelic rock band New Dawn in a rare appearance will open the show on September 11.

The Remains

The Remains are viewed critically as rock act important to the genre and have been called one of the great American regional bands of their era. Although The Remains never charted higher than #129 on the Billboard Charts ("Do Wah Diddy"), the Boston-based foursome reached national exposure through appearances on the "Ed Sullivan Show" and the teen dance show "Hullabaloo."
The original members of the band Barry Tashian (guitar/vocals), Vern Miller (bass), Chip Damiani (drums), and William Briggs (keyboards) were the focus of the 2008 documentary film "America's Lost Band" and were chronicled in band member Barry Tashian's book "Ticket to Ride."

The Remains on tour with The Beatles

Teenage girls screamed and fainted across North America when The Remains toured as opening act for the Beatles in 1966. The tour stands as the Fab Four's last tour. The Remains  as a band broke up immediately following the high profile tour ultimately consigning them to the fate of cult status.

The New Dawn

The New Dawn hail from Willamina, Oregon rarely performs and will reunite for their special engagement with The Remains. The New Dawn are hailed as one of the rarest and best late sixties Psychedelic bands by collectors. The northwest band will perform their seminal fuzz guitar and organ dirge ridden album "There's A New Dawn" in its entirety for the first time ever.
