September 13: CCA Celebration of Courage Family Festival @ World Trade Center

CELEBRATION OF COURAGE FAMILY FESTIVAL
Sunday, September 13, 2009 Noon — 4pm
World Trade Center, Portland
Free Admission — Open to All

A Portland tradition since 1996, the Celebration of Courage is a benefit for the local non-profit Children's Cancer Association (CCA), and a fun, festive community event that draws hundreds of families each year. There is no admission fee, and no charge for balloons, face-painting, take home arts and crafts activities, live music and more.

Highlights include:

- Pirate theme: Search for the Black Pearl, with a swashbuckling pirate setting, including treasure, ancient maps, and a sapphire
sea.

- Airbrush face painting, paint-on tattoos, and balloon art, all free of charge.

- Arts & Crafts activities for children, with take-home projects, free of charge.

- A Mini Cooper raffle, with a new 2009 automobile being driven home by the winner.

- Silent Auction, with fantastic family packages.

- Live music all afternoon, hosted by Isaac Ropp, radio celebrity from THE FAN 1080 AM.

- Pirate music from the B.O.O.M. Pirate Band.

- Unveiling of the 2009 Wall of Courage, a portrait gallery showing 25 children and teens chosen for their bravery and positive attitude in the face of serious illness. Many of these "Community Heroes" will be in attendance, celebrating their status as a Hero VIP.

- Releasing the doves, in which dozens of beautiful white doves are set free, a symbol of love for children and teens who battle life-threatening illnesses.

- A variety of reasonably-priced hot-off-the-grill lunch selections will also be available.
