IGLOO Gallery presents: ‘Photos and Photo Animations'
Work by visual artist Chris Lael Larson
Chris Lael Larson is a multi-disciplinary artist, musician and graphic designer who lives and works in Portland, Oregon, USA.
In "Photos and Photo Animations', a series of 48 photographs are disclosed from the artist's online photographic diary, called, www.natural-lightening.com. Individually they display a timeless, youthful curiosity that unifies. As a body of work they represent the spontaneity of seeing the familiar in a new way, while examining observations of abstracted moments that help one familiarize with an environment. This colorful and diagrammatic collection of mounted photographs brings attention to the significance of reverse publishing in the digital age.
The exhibition also includes the artist's more well-known video work, which presently coalesces hand-sequenced digital stills, stop-motion, hand-drawn animation, motion graphics and sound collage with flowing layers of color, shape and texture, together, into surreal meditations on physical and emotional landscapes.
