In September 2001, Tim Harris and Joel Hartzler decided they wanted to work for themselves, so they rented an old bodega on SE 12th Ave and opened The Basement Pub. This was a fair risk, as at the time, Inner SE was underpopulated and quite sketchy. Little did these two know, The Basement would help kick-start the gradual uprise of the Central SE Industrial District.
Ever since, The Basement Pub has had a flow of regulars of all ages, races and genders who not only call it home, but have become the best of friends. Some of them even decided to get married!
While it’s a local neighborhood pub, no one is excluded from the fun. As one recent transplant said, “I walked in and I never left.”
Through this past decade, The Basement Pub has decidedly improved, with a great deck and awesome food, while still retaining its imminent neighborhood charm.
Whether you visited us in the last ten years or have yet to check it out, come celebrate with us!
