Thomas Lauderdale, Storm Large and Darcelle XV … Oh, My!
It's the Oregon Symphony's "Countdown to Carnegie" concert fundraiser
8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18
A star-studded evening in support of the Oregon Symphony's Carnegie Hall debut later this season: $10 from each ticket sold will help get your orchestra home. (We've raised enough money to get to New York; now we have to bring our orchestra back to Portland).
Music Director Carlos Kalmar has put together a one-of-a-kind program for this singular special event, including …
– Ravel's Bolero
– Dvorak's Romance for Violin & Orchestra (with Concertmaster Jun Iwasaki)
– Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue (with Pink Martini's Thomas Lauderdale on piano)
– Appearances by other only-in-Portland special guests: rock diva Storm Large, drag club legend Darcelle XV and twin-brother poets Matthew and Michael Dickman.
