Grand Detour is an emerging microcinema and experimental media organization committed to supporting, enhancing, and connecting the community of new media artists in Portland and beyond. Currently hosting screenings and curating video work across the city, we see ourselves as Portland's hub for innovative video and media-related artworks. Situating ourselves at the forefront of Portland's burgeoning new media scene, Grand Detour exists as a haven for underground artists, digital methods classes, installations, and community discourse.

celluloid.mov is a multichannel video/film installation designed by members of Grand Detour. It features video manipulations by Salise Hughes (Seattle, WA), and Evan Meaney (Knoxville, TN), in addition to 16mm footage by Dan Klockenkemper (Portland, OR). celluloid.mov opens at PSU's Littman Gallery September 1st, 2011 and will play through the 28th.

The piece will exist as an analog/digital hybrid utilizing digital projectors and 16mm film. Through close juxtaposition and superimposition, the simultaneous presentation of both formats will create an analog/digital hybrid that explores the intrinsic formalities of the two mediums while pushing the boundaries of each.
