September 25: Treesy Rider Motorcycle Poker Run & Fundraiser @ World Forestry Center

World Forestry Center Get's Their Motor Running

On Saturday, September 25 the World Forestry Center will host Treesy Rider, a motorcycle poker run and fundraiser that will benefit the non profit

Register at treesyrider.eventbrite.com

This all day event starts at the World Forestry Center Discovery Museum in beautiful Washington Park where riders will receive the first card in their "poker hand". They will then ride a scenic 70+ mile route through rolling green vineyards and roads less traveled with breathtaking views of Mt. Hood. Along the way they will break at four designated pit stops to receive additional cards to add to their hand.

The ride ends at Magness Memorial Tree Farm, an 80 acre outdoor education site and World Forestry Center property near Wilsonville.  Riders will be greeted with the End of the Road Party including music, food, brews, a 50/50 drawing, entertainment, raffle prizes and vendors. The best poker hands win prizes.

Single Rider Registration is $30 and Double Rider Registration is $50. Registration includes free admission to the Discovery Museum, one poker hand, a run pin, and free meal and drink tickets for the End of the Road Party.

Motorcyclists once called to mind visions of Hells Angels, roving gangs, and anarchic behavior. Treesy Rider's name itself plays on the iconic 60s film Easy Rider which inspired generations of riders to find their own sense of freedom from being on a motorcycle. Now the majority of motorcyclists are married, family oriented, active members of their communities. Motorcycle poker run's give them the opportunity to get their motors running, head out onto the open road and experience a sense of freedom all while giving back to non profits in their community.

Treesy Rider, a family friendly and unique event, invites a broader demographic of potential visitors and donors to the World Forestry Center and its outdoor education site. "In tough economic times it is important to bring fresh and innovative ways to generate revenue and raise awareness of our mission. A motorcycle poker run does both, and allows riders to experience both the Discovery Museum and Magness, a spectacular education site that many people might not be aware of." Gary Hartshorn, President and CEO of the World Forestry Center.

Open daily and free to the public, Magness Memorial Tree Farm has over 2 miles of hiking trails, nine comparative forest management zones, and sees thousands of visitors each year from school groups to the daily jogger. It is a unique and entertaining event

The World Forestry Center is a 501(c)(3) non profit educational organization dedicated to teaching about the world's forests and trees and environmental stewardship. The museum is located in Portland's beautiful Washington Park and is open every day from 10am- 5pm. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children ages 3-18. There is a $2 Metro parking fee per car that is waived if visitors take public transportation. The museum is five minutes from downtown Portland, just off Hwy 26 and is also accessible by MAX light rail line.
