Prepare for takeoff!
SPACE ECHOES is the first open house fundraiser for SpaceCraft, an emerging nonprofit forged by artists and educators committed to the reformative power of arts and positive community. Innovative artist mentors and at-risk young people work together on compelling public arts projects. Through these projects we build community, gain self-esteem, life skills, and creative self-expression, while having fun and making amazing art.
SpaceCraft is the hub for these community projects. In the Arts Equal Access Center, at-risk young people can volunteer and learn from in-house projects, and be inspired to create art of their own. The resource center will have supplies, research technology and creation stations for individual focus. Our 6000 square foot studio with 20 foot ceilings offers the space to dream big, and we’re open late. We'll be the ¬Å“place to be” in the evenings-open till 9 pm-keeping young people engaged and out of trouble.
On MAY 21st, we invite the community in to see the 6000 square foot warehouse space and introduce ourselves. There will be 9 local bands, beginning at 4 pm and going until 11pm. There'll be a $5 suggested donation at the door for people 19 and older; anyone 18 and under gets in free. The event is open to artists, students, supporters, and interested persons of all variety. We kick off our space mission with an event aimed at generating positive community for young people (for this reason, there will be no alcohol.) There WILL be BBQ and cold drinks for sale at the event whose proceeds also go to furthering SpaceCraft's mission.
