Hotel Deluxe Roof
SW 15th and Yamhill

Join us for balmy evenings and beguiling views atop the parking rooftop at the Hotel deLuxe, SW 15th at Yamhill. Festivities begin at 8 p.m. with music and refreshments. Gracie's Restaurant will offer easy-to-juggle meals, snacks, and cocktails, and additional beverages will be available from TAZO Tea, MacTarnahan's Brewing, and Viso.

The screenings start when the sun goes down, around 9 p.m. Bring your own portable chair, pillow, or blanket, but please no pets or outside food or drink.

The Outsiders opens with the words of Ponyboy (C. Thomas Howell): ¬Å“When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home.¬Â His mother and father killed in a car accident, the dreamy Ponyboy lives with his brothers Darry (Patrick Swayze) and Sodapop (Rob Lowe) in a tumbledown house on the wrong side of town.

All three belong to the Greasers, underage hoods at war with middle-class kids known as Socs (pronounced SO-shes). The cast sports a who's who of allegedly adolescent actors who significantly upped their Q-ratings in subsequent years, including Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Matt Dillon, and Emilio Estevez, as well as the over-the-hill teen heartthrob Leif Garrett and the ageless Tom Waits. (91 mins.)
