About Celilo (OPB Studio Session)
"The band builds up to the edge of a total rock assault, priming listeners with an eager drumroll. Then, as if surveying the slopes of Awesome Rock-Out Mountain and finding them too steep to traverse, Celilo pulls back with some muted Pink Floyd atmospherics and a pretty slide-guitar whine. Good for Celilo." ~Willamette Week
Tonight is a trio of Portland finest alt-country charmers, with Americana indie-rock band Celilo headlining the bill. They've won hearts and fans for their alt-folk/rock music, earning comparisons to Wilco and Ryan Adams. But they have a sound all their own, creating unique Americana and psych.
The Parson Red Heads now call Portland home, but their previous California hometown still shows its influence with folk songs that ooze the laid back Laurel Canyon rocker and the breezy psych of Southern California. It's a joyous sort of traditional, their well-crafted songs full of effervescence.
Norman has a sound that reflects their Northwest surroundings, full of swanky drums, bass, guitars, piano, and banjo.
Tonight is going to be full of plaid wearing tunes and beautiful fireside reminiscing that make one happy to be brought home.

i owe my neighbor a favor, and since he digs americana and the local music scene, this would be a great way to repay him.

Not going to lie, havent heard of any of them, but finding new, inspiring music to me, is like finding an amazingly kick ass, five dolla’ retro jacket, buried in a pit at the House of Vintage….Priceless. MUCH LOVE!
